All things must fade. There will always be a farewell...
Werecat started nearly two years ago on August 3rd, 2005. I had meant for it to be a website where people could simply come and relax, roleplay to their heart’s content and get their feelings out through their characters and their writing. It was never meant to come as far as it did, and though many of the changes that Werecat went through were for the best, many of them were also for the worst. I did not like where Werecat was headed, nor could I enjoy being on the site or taking care of it any longer. When this began happening, there was no longer any purpose for me to continue the site.
I began thinking a lot about the site when I left it three weeks ago to take a break and to work on things in real life that needed to be done. I never thought that I would be closing the site, however. When I took it down for renovations, I had every intention of opening it in one week’s time, but everyone knows that such a thing never happened. I extended the renovation time two days after I was supposed to open the site back up. This delay was because I had started thinking seriously about something I had contemplated quite a few times before. Ask any staff member and they will tell you that many times I consulted them and asked for their advice on whether I should keep the site open or not.
This time was the first that I seriously considered closing the site down. Why? Because there were many more reasons for me to close the site than there were reasons to keep it open. If I named every single reason why I am closing Werecat, I’m afraid it would be more like an essay than a simply letter. It was an incredibly hard decision for me to make. Indeed, it took me all of three weeks to decide this, but I feel it is necessary. Werecat became something that I never wanted it to become, and I don’t see any point in continuing it any longer.
There is a small ray of hope, however. It is possible that I may reopen Werecat one day, but if that time comes, it shall come many months from now. If it is reopened, all members will be notified, but until then I will be exploring other things and, most of all, concentrating on my college courses and my passions. I am sorry to see Werecat go like this, so close to its second anniversary and after two weeks of promising good things to come. However, I see no point in reopening Werecat just to have it close down again permanently, so I am afraid that I must give you this disappointing news instead of the promised renovations to Werecat.
While this is the end of Werecat and all related sites (meaning the temporary forum will be closing as well, there would be no point in keeping it open), I am always open to talk to people. I check my email frequently (admin@werecat.org) and I sign onto MSN Messenger every once in a while to chat to people (my email for that is valiblackstone@hotmail.com, which you can also email me at. I check both emails regularly.) I am quite open to chatting every now and again. But please don’t ask me for information on Werecat, if and when it will be opening again. You will get nowhere, as even I do not know.
To all the wonderful people and writers on Werecat, to all the great times and wonderful laughter, good bye, and thank you!
